The era of electric cars started relatively recently, but its development is taking huge strides. Almost every automaker now has at least one electric car model in its arsenal. The new electric car Cupra el-Born was officially presented the other day. This is the firstborn of a young Spanish company, it is also a subsidiary of SEAT. The new hatchback Cupre el-Born is essentially a pre-production version of the previously unveiled Seat el-Bron concept, which was unveiled at last year's Geneva auto show.
Still, the production version of the Cupra el-Born is different, the designers redesigned the front of the electric car, added massive air intakes and, of course, the corporate emblem at the beginning of the hood. Following the external changes, the interior of the Cupra el-Born was revised. Both individual design details and the decorative part as a whole have changed. The interior is made in the style of the Cupra company. Sports seats (buckets) are installed in front, not only functional buttons were placed on the steering wheel, but also control of the electric vehicle's suspension mode (selection of the travel mode). The upholstery is of high quality from expensive materials, although the company also clarified that they used materials from recycling.
The main focus of the manufacturer is on the technical and dynamic characteristics of Cupra el-Born. So, according to available data, an electric car can accelerate from 0 to 50 km / h in 2.9 seconds. The basis for the new hatchback was the MEB platform, paired with the DCCS (Dynamic Chassis Control Sport) system. The peculiarity of the system is that it can automatically adjust the parameters of the electric vehicle to any conditions of movement.
Unfortunately, there is still little information about the Cupra el-Born unit. The manufacturer only hinted that an 82 kW * h battery will be used as a battery, which will be able to provide a cruising range of 500 kilometers without recharging. The mechanism allows the use of high-speed charging, thus, within 30 minutes of charging the battery, you can provide 260 kilometers of travel.
In terms of safety and comfort systems, the new Cupra el-Born promises state-of-the-art functions. The set promises to include a Head-up Display, where the reality of the transmitted image will be realized. They also promise to install the latest version of the autopilot, automatic parking system and automatic travel according to the specified coordinates on the navigation map. The production and assembly of the new Cupra el-Born is planned to be established in Germany (the city of Zwickau), and the new Volkswagen ID.3 is being assembled on the same line, the debut of which is planned for the end of summer 2020.
